We did not do a necropsy. We don't know what to look for, but we are fairly certain he had something lodged in his crowl. He never really crowed loud.
A lot of bad reviews on Amazon, even the good reviews say that does not hold temp very well if you need to open it. With having to manual turn, it certainly will be a disaster for chicken eggs.

I think you would miss an automatic turner. I have good results with my lowley little Hova-Bator and would not consider using it without the egg turner. -DB
