The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

We had. 200lb neo mastiff. Best. Dog. Ever. But when he would lay on me I couldn't breath. He had no respect for personal space. I loved that dog.

Dogs are the best.

We have seven of them.

Here's my dog, Cinnamon, with my special-needs silkie, Mavis. She was trying to eat but she walked in circles a lot because of brain damage, which is why she isn't near her plate. She managed quite well though.

Yeah, we've introduced animals before and seen both the good and the bad of it. I have to say that for us the hardest as been cats though.

Rabbits are certainly up there too. Chickens take time, but I'll admit I've never introduced an adult in, only chicks or teens so that could be why we haven't had trouble with the intros.

I consider myself SO incredibly fortunate too with our chickens. I've never imagined that there'd be such easy going, wonderful chickens. Total luck of the draw in my case. I use white heat bulbs (and 65w floodlights when they're chicks in the house) I haven't seen any major agression or pecking at all...other than newly hatched chicks pecking at say a foot and going, "oh it's not food"...lol. Even between these different breeds. The only thing I see is the EEs step on the OEGBs just because they're smaller and in the way.
We amalgamated 52 chickens from 4 different coops, all different ages and different breeds this fall. The only problem was the guinea fowl.

So I penned the guinea fowl until I sell them. Everyday I still cannot believe how well they get along. Amazing!! I'm just SO lucky. I've also seen everyone mentioning how their chicks stay up at night with a light. I've made a point of watching...these chicks always sleep at night even under the bright lights. I have no idea why the difference.

Doh, lost my multi posts, so here goes...

**Awwwwwwwwwwww, diving duckies, they look like little penguins shooting through the water.

**Yay, more shakers. 2016 - the year of the shaker.
**Love grandma's shelf. I've got a box of such things, really should put a corner shelf up....up WAY high. I have 5 and 6 year old boys.

**Hugs? HUGS? Sniffle, I dinna get no hugs.

**Mint in the coops...hmm, that's a cool idea. Eucalyptus - some long since used neuron in the back of my brain is screaming WARNING, would have to research, but gut instinct says could be a dangerous.

I don't remember what else I highlighted.

Welcome new participants, good luck with the hatches!

Goooooooood frosty morning, all. The rain has turned to black ice. Time to ice skate to work.

Oh boy, you have that..we have this, and it's still dumping. It's supposed to keep coming down until late tonight. We need it! Your photo is beautiful!!

This is looking back at the coops on my way to the feed shed.

I will be wading in more later, or tomorrow. I think I filled
everyone's food up until tomorrow..or the next.
They are eating like piggies right now.

Thank you! Faverolles are really lovely. I think I will always have a flock as long as I can have chickens.

You probably don't do bantams..I've had the LF too, they are lovely. I don't have a photo that I can find real quick, but this one I show off a lot. They are so cute..the bantams, and make great moms!
At least mine was.

I have a friend that had a Faverolle rooster. Man, those guys are just too handsome for their own good! Just beautiful. Love you avvy too! Is he a sweet boy?

Looking good, put a little Neo on that? I always do when they are helped out. Good job. We need photos when this baby is awake and about. May take a day or two.
