I'm with both of you.  I calculate by the number that are fertile - that includes ones that don't make it to lockdown.  For this hatch - I pulled clears and 1 blood ring.  I include the blood ring in my calculation.  

I'd go with the number fertile. I (personally) don't think the clears count. 

Can be any of those. I personally calculate my rates by how many fertile.

Thank you. Its only my 3rd hatch, 1st with shipped eggs. I've been wondering if there was a common practice or if it varied by person.

Hopefully it makes it out on its own but I'm fully prepared to assist. I'll probably be doing a lot of that as they approach hatch.

When calculating hatch rate. Its the number hatched out of what? The # set? The # fertile? Or the number that went into lockdown?

For the hatcha a long we use total hatch rate not fertile hatch rate. Fertile hatch rate can be more easily fudged.

First time hatching eggs!!! I had 17 to start and 7 made it to lock down. 4 Silkies out of 14 shipped eggs and 3 EE's from a friend. So far 2 silkies have hatched and a 3rd one is almost out. 1 of the EE's has a pip. This is so fun and nerve wracking at the same time!!

OMG mine are hatching and I wasn't ready! I expected them Saturday afternoon, I didn't even have them in lock down yet. I was sitting here doing my taxes and figured I'd get them in lock down as soon as I was done, when I heard a peep! I rushed over, yanked out the turner and added in some water and closed em back up. So far I have one royal palm turkey out, with ducks and turkeys both pipped and one turkey zipping! Come on duckies and turkeys!

Mine is working on day 19 now I went and because of my initial high temp I locked them down a day early now I'm glad I did! Mine is coming again on day 19 !!
