The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

Candled for day 14. Went from 42 eggs to 8 obviously developing, 3 questionable but not hopeful, 2 quitters, and 29 infertile. My rooster is clearly mating the Leghorn as all her eggs were fertile. I do have 3 dark brown ones developing, so I am still hopeful of an OE. Weight loss is higher than "normal" but still well below 25%.

I'm kind of wondering if I starting gathering eggs too early. I've been watching my rooster and he is mating more often and each time I see him mating a different girl. I think I will do another batch after this one is done. How long a break should I give the incubator? I know I need to clean it but do I need to let it completely cool down?

No, i left the top of my incubator running while i cleaned the bottom. When i had cabinet bators they ran all year except when i was on vacation!
