The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

Sounds delicious! :drool

Oh the never ending laundry pile.... don’t know how we have so much over here! There is only 3 of us :th

Hope they can get it back in for you soon :fl

That looks great Ron! I’m hopeless at baking and have to cheat. Our little local shop sells cupcakes made by a lady in the village so I buy them there. It saves an awful lot of mess in my kitchen....

:clap

:woot

How exciting! I’m sure you will enjoy it :highfive:
They did, only 5&1/2 hours off. :yesss:
One advantage of having a power outage when few others do. They have a crew to handle it. That tree was past due to come down.

I'll give it a whirl. This will be my first ever hatch. I'm going to use broodies, so may not be able to set @ exact time (plus I may be working that day).
Mine will be buckeyes. I may also get some RIR and/or chantecler.
Not sure how you do it but I like to wait a few days/week make sure they are good and broody and not just posing/pretending. Then swap the eggs they were on for eggs I want them to hatch. I have two white silkie/jersey giant crosses that are great broodies, that way they don't hatch their own eggs. I hope to use them also for the EHAL and a incubator, all depends on how they feel about it though Lol

:woot What breed?
I'm not sure yet! I have some in the incubator right now, and my decision for the Easter batch will be affected by which ones are successful in this hatch. I'm thinking Orpington for sure (have located eggs), and Brahma (if I can locate the eggs), some frizzle/sizzle satin, silkie and showgirl possibilities (have located eggs), maybe Wyandottes (have located eggs) and/or Barnevelders. Possibly a couple Deathlayer too. I have two in the incubator now, but would like more than that, even if both of these hatch. Have to have those shipped and they are spendy!

Welcome to everyone joining us this year! It should be a blast!

Good to hear it wasn’t too long an outage. At least the tree came down when the incubator wasn’t on!

I might participate in this.. I'll be setting another batch of duck eggs on march the 4th.. If not then maybe some Serama eggs.

Welcome :clap
