The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

Don't worry about it.

Eggs that have shipping damage do better at lockdown set in egg cartons. The eggs are big end up tilted away from the big part of the air cell

I picked these up but can't know how they were handled prior of course. I marked the ones I saw that had weird air cells but missed this one. So you think big end up at lockdown? Easy enough thanks!

Yes!

It is rare for egg that were not shipped to have wonky air cells but it does happen!

I will add that I have growers in there. Even if I wasn't supposed to look yet.

Day 18 Lockdown! I am stopping the egg turner tonight. Looks good so far. I got 4 eggs to day 18 but we will see. One egg in particular looks really promising. So :fl I am hoping and praying to finally hatch my own chicks. One question left, if only one chick hatches out of the remaining 4 eggs can it survive alone?:idunno
that or run to feed store buy 2 chicks explaining you have lone wolf at home

Ok, so of course the young hen that just started to lay gave me a soft shell yesterday, very soft, went to pick it up and poked my finger through the top. This is the Cinnamon Queen, so with this rooster would get me some excellent layers. Today, here is what she laid. Haven't seen one of these in ages. Hope she gets going on nice sized eggs before she isn't fertile any longer. I have one in the bator for the hatch along that has started, can see the beanie baby. Anyway, I'm sure many of you have seen one of these before from a new layer. She needs to get this right! Soon. Best have a talk with her. ;)
