I set 7. Candling so far looks like I've got 3 very strong babies growing, 1 infertile and 3 borderlines (these have thick vascular rings, but the wee chick embryos are still dancing away in there!)...not sure if they will make it but we will see. These were shipped eggs so if I get 3 I will consider that a big blessing! What kind of hatch rates do you all typically get from shipped eggies? I have them in a Janoel-10 (forced air, manual egg turning). How many eggs did you set?
Aww, I love those too! <3 I am also hatching Jubilee Orpingtons, they look very much like Speckled Sussex! I am having a hard time keeping the humidity up in the CS batch, I think the Janoel-12 is a better 'bator (my JO's are in there). Colorado is so damn dry!Nice. I have Speckled Sussex started. Going to check Air cells tonight as I think they need more humidity.
NO! As long as the ring looks bright red and nothing is decomposing/separating, it could just be a central vascular ring. Some of my CS are doing this, and I freaked out, but I've been researching the heck out of this and it seems many times people ditch them but they are actually viable! If you watch, you might see the little chickie embryo dancing in there...mine are doing that!View attachment 1303700
