The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

Congrats on all the new fluff! I'm trying to wait patiently on our first hatch with the 3 survivors. We've lost so many thus far its hard to stay positive. Does it get easier with each hatch or is it always so stressful?!?!
I hear you. I lost 12 out of 15 prior to lockdown. I'm hoping to set some more once my 3 remaining are done.

I know how you feel. This is the first time I’ve actually gotten a decent hatch with chicken eggs. I’ve done three before and I had a lot of chicks that developed but died right before hatch. It was so sad. BYC members pointed out that hatching at high altitude is different. With a lot of research, I learned more and found out about a different method that works for me.

If you set on Saturday the 10th your day 21 is tomorrow. So hang in there. :hugs

We have drawdown and internal pippage!

LOL. Tended to the incubator yesterday trying to stabilize the humidity in the lockdown (it was running either low at 58% or high at 72%) and hadn't seen it since then as I had an o-dark-early work start out of town this a.m. Came home, DH fixed me dinner and I'm sitting here reading about all the pips and I thought "Hmmm... I wonder if I've got any pips?" Went to the back room and the first thing I notice is the humidity on the Genesis 1588 is reading 58%. Darn! The second thing I notice is nearly all my eggs have hatched! 8 of the 11 are out and the remaining 3 are zipping. Nice!

Humidity of 58% works at hatch if the incubator was keeping temperatures steady

I love hatches like that! Low stress and good hatch results
:jumpy:jumpy:jumpy3 chicks so far!:celebrate 36 to go. :fl

Nice!

We are having a pretty good hatch so far with 6 Serama’s, 3 BCM and 1 SFH doing well in the brooder, and 3 SFH’s, 3 Serama’s and my lone NN:yawith external pips.

I bet they are very cute!
