It doesn't matter about being the first hatch--I always worry until I see a pipI've got one starting to move!!
Can you tell this is my 1st ever hatch?
Getting close!Six pips so far.
They look so cute!Chicks in my brooder.
Do you see some pieces of shell knocked off into the incubator? It is fun to see that happen5 out of the shell and lots of shell pecking sounds.

It is very exciting to see pips! Next will be zipping followed by baby chicksI HAVE MY FIRST PIP EVER!!!! Looks like its from the wrong end.....
View attachment 1319196 When an entire tray of fluff balls has hatched but one...and the one has a pip! Gaaaah! I want so much to reach in and grab 11 fluffy cheepers to snuggle with!!! We are at 11/12 Olive Eggers. 7 of 13? Marans have hatched but one looks to have a prolapsed umbilical thing. One more has pipped. Waiting, waiting...
The little umbilical part will dry up and fall off on it's own. Just keep an eye on it, if it's torn off too soon and you see bleeding then you may need to attend to it. Will dry up in brooder and fall off. Don't keep it moist.
