The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

Gosh, those birds are awfully pretty

That's a beautiful color/pattern. Would look amazing in several combinations with either silver or gold lacing. I'll have to keep those in mind.

And as Usual in the USA, Coloful variation of such pattern is lacking... Just Silver based. But Rich Gold, Dominant White, Blue are also Possible, basically the Possibilities are endless

Blue, Chocolate, Platinum blue.....

The two barred roosters in the pictures you shared are probably the only barred versions I like in chickens. And I have noticed the lack of color variety in the USA just by reading through the SOP for Australa and other places.

Just to clarify, those roosters aren’t the same type of barring as a barred rock, for example. A BR is sexlinked barred, which is a single dominant gene. Autosomal barring/transverse penciling is a combination of non-sexlinked genes resulting in that pattern.

True...

Here I present Autosomal Barring vs True Sex Linked Barring

Howdy @nicalandia, I have a few questions concerning breeding a fibro easter egger project.

My end goal is to have a bird that is all black like an AC In the females, with muffs and a pea comb. And have the males look similar to this.. But with the Easter egger look.
And no feathers on their legs. And carry the fibro gene.

So at the moment I have my first gen OG rooster that has fathered a 2nd gen cockerel that may end up being darker then him.
I was planning on being him to my EE hens, but I was thinking about it and would the EE being bred back in, make them not carry the fibro gen as strong?

I hope that makes sense.

As long as there is Fibromelanotic in there the EEs will look very dark.

You can also use AC male over Black EE or Black Ameraucana would be the fastest way to get where you want to go.
