The bator with the doomed hatch is yelling at me!!! Pics pg 3

ROFLMAO......I can just see it now.....you make a desperate call to 911 from under the mound of fuzz butts. With 3 or 4 bators you would end up buried alive under chickies!!! You are gonna have an awful lot of babies!!!!! Of course you are like me, you have constant hatch requests from family. You need to start a business!!!!

ooh yes that would be....my hubby already promised i get another one a (hovabator!) I'm waiting until I get my first hatches out of this little big thing first he he

When I started this hatch I bought a second bator. I use egg cartons and 24 is the most I like to have in so there is space for the thermometer, etc, and since I started with 46 eggs....well, I just had no choice. Both of mine are still air and I have a Little Giant (my first one) and the new one is a Hova. I am just realizing a person can't possibly survive with only one bator!!! LOL

She really does look like she is going to be just beautiful!! And now one more is out but seems really weak.

It is yellow with a bit of grey on its head and a grey stripe down its back (or so it appears while it is in the bator and wet). I am already dreading giving them to my mother.

Oh, the first baby has a name now. She is the first child of the rooster (well, cockerel, actually) I gave my mother. His name is Star so my mom named her Starla, after him.

I have a full house right now.. everyone wants to see the eggs..lol

So Christy how is the other baby doing? still pipping?

LOL....yeah, if she is a boy her name can't very well be shortened to Star since that is her father's name..so I am hoping that forces her to be a girl.

I thought it was pretty cute. Was actually surprised that my mom named her. She has 10 y/o twin girls she is raising who wanted to name them but for once she said "no, this one is MINE". LOL

Yeah, I saw your eggs Mark.

They look geat!!! The other baby seems to be getting stronger (yeah, she is out, BTW). She is chirping more and moving around quite a bit. It took her a long time from when she pipped until she hatched so I know she was very tired. Mine need to hurry and hatch so I don't miss these too much once my mom takes them home.

And perfectly good rule if you ask me. However, I am gonna make a confession now. I had to take the babies out of the bator. Starla was jumping up and hitting her head on the heating elements and had me worried. There were two eggs I was pretty sure were dead on day 18 so I grabbed them out when I removed the chicks. I candled and they were both dead. I opened the eggs of course. One seemed kinda normal but the yolk sack was really greenish/blackish which went right along with the bacterial infection theory. The otehr one had fluid all under its skin...on its head and legs and abdomen. Really strange. You could actually see through it. The other eggs have done NOTHING but they still looked alright on day 18 so I am leaving them alone. For now........
