So pretty! She looks so clean, my whites are little dirt bodies lolWe had one bantam cochin in our original flock. Our little Yuki was the sweetest little gal. She was raised by our broody Japanese bantam hen from a day old chick. That flock has all passed on from old age. -love bantam cochins! -very sweet birds!
Ooooh, colours??? Pics???I might be a little bit of a fan of bantam Cochins. I have just under 40 of them at the moment.

This is my whole mood for the same question on another thread this weekLet me think about this for a second...I currently have:
Yessss, this year was so bad for cockerels! We had great luck with our first banty group and then it just went downhill from there lol. Hoping this current hatch is kinder to me8 silkied Black adults (3 roosters, 5 hens)
2 silkied Blue hens
4 silkied Reds (1 rooster, 3 hens)
4 smooth Mottled hens
1 silkied White hen
1 silkied sort of incomplete-Partridge-looking hen
1 silkied Black pullet
6 silkied Blue chicks (looking like an even 50-50 split on boys and girls)
5 silkied Black chicks (looks like just one pullet with them, though)
3 silkied Chocolate chicks (likely one pullet here, too)
1 silkied chick that appears to be mixed color (and he's a cockerel, of course)
I'm trying to build up three flocks of the Blue and Black silkieds to maintain them and breed them toward the standard. My third flock growing out among the babies, of course, though I've got an unfortunate number of cockerels in the mix for that plan![]()
O.M.G, now I absolutely MUST have silkies Cochins!!!!!! Off to research if I can do this with my current flock. THE FLOOF!!!! THE FLOOF!!!!!! Adoring all the pictures, you’re my kind of person!Plus I have my two large fowl Cochins in Blue and Splash... I guess I just like Cochins in general.
Anyway, here are some of my breeder silkieds. This is a Blue, Harley:

Someone was asking about their size so I used Pete to get a comparison with a standard sized soda can

The little ones at one month old; the G babies are Gus's kids (probably with Zinnia, but there's a slim chance that Myrtle was their mother) and the rest are from shipped eggs:

Uhhhh.... Just remember, you asked for pictures![]()
LOL! Yes, she was nice and neat most of the time, but there were definitely the occasions after a good rain that she stomped about in the mud and looked hilarious! So pretty! She looks so clean, my whites are little dirt bodies lol

We’re pretty done this year, but I neeeeed the info next yearHaha, it was cockerel karma for me this year as well! Last two hatches of them I had way more pullets and then I had almost equal numbers with slightly more pullets. It was inevitable that my cockerel numbers would catch up eventually.
Yesss, come to the fuzzy feather side!!Silkied Cochins need more love!
They are exactly like smooth Cochin bantams, just with silkied feathering, so if you have Cochin bantams just fine in your flock, you should be able to have silkied Cochin bantams as well. The only real catch is that there aren't a huge number of farms working with them, so they can be tough to find. I'm always happy to help connect people with the farms I know of when they're ready to add silkied Cochins to their life, though!
I was totally going to tag your for future floofs!!!K didn't know silkie cochin bantams were even a thing til the weekend!
Yall all have soooooo many! And so many pretty babies!
These 2 wee ones and the most talkative two babies I've seen since my d'uccle Chatty... Cathy not so talkative but Chatty talks constantly! Lol
I had grandsons today...and will tomorrow so hopefully I can get cutesy pics Wednesday of China and Coco!
