Cricket is a flying duck! I guess I will have to clip her wings. She is pretty small. My other 3 ducks haven’t quite mastered the skill yet.

Once a hummer flew really close over my Muscovy females head and she tried to grab it. Thankfully those little birds are fast.

That is true! They do sound like little bugs flying by my head.

Now that I have lost my Cricketbug, I have two boys and one girl. I have looked for adult females, but I cannot find any close to me. So, much to my husband's dismay, I ordered 5 female ducklings from Metzer! I know it will be a while until they can be with the big boys, but I have been paying attention to how Daisy interacts with them, and they only mate her once a day each, maybe twice. If they do it while I am gone, there is no sign of it. The back of her neck looks fine, and she always asks for it; she never runs away.

I will now have a rainbow flock - 2 KC drakes (Sammy and Rufus), 1 KC girl (Daisy), and the new girls are Buff, White Layer, Golden Layer, F&W runner, and blue runner. I already have names picked out: Sandy, Snowy, Goldie, Patches, and Bluebell. I am so excited! The babies should be here by October 10th.
