The Brooding of Allie, Casey and Latte

Well the security cam paid off... For two reasons 1. I get to show you what happened instead of tell you. 2. I can watch the little darlings while I type this so it doesn't happen again. Yesterday I tried to make a naris cleaning station. While supervised, the 'lings just pecked around the hole and didn't use it at all. I went to try it again today. Allie had grown enough that I thought I should open up the hole a little so she couldn't get her head caught in it, after all ducks are geniuses at devising ways to hurt themselves. Again they just pecked at the hole and the lid - no idea there was water inside. So I dabbled my finger in the water. No clue. Well I thought, when I first got the 'lings, I dipped their bills in the waterers so they would know where the water was. Maybe I should try the same thing here. I randomly grabbed Latte (currently the smallest) and dipped her bill in the water...

Well it will only take a day or two to outgrow that...
A baby fuzzball just popped out of the cylinder. She went fast.

Agreed! Everything goes better with JB

EEE, thank you Tony. I am having fun with all your pics and everyone's responses to the 'lings. I just love how you and Yvonne are so sweet about all your birbs and with these ones, too. What's not to love about them?

Welcome back! While we acknowledge you have a right to do things outside BYC, we sure do miss you when you're gone.

Aw, thank you Tony. I appreciate that. The thing is that while I am out and away from the computer I miss you all and think about BYC fun a lot. Honestly, it's a big part of my life. Just wish I had more time.

I love this thread. The babies are just gorgeous. That last one had me laughing I almost felt like Julie for a moment.

Thanks for sharing your babies with us.
It made me laugh too, Patty. Just the sheer sweetness of her in his hand and the whole package of fuzzlet with webs.

Thanks!

Duckings grow up SOOO fast - much faster than a kitten or a puppy. My heart is heavy with the knowledge that without a tragedy, I probably won't get any more ducks due to space issues. So I live vicariously through others' 'lings (and call ducks, and Muscovies) that I can't get. (We all have a little Julie in us.) So I hope others in this situation can enjoy mine in the same way. Plus the people here are great! And since I made my own thread... I don't pollute other threads with tons of "here are my duckies" pics. You can enjoy them self-choice just like my ducks get their oyster shell...

I love this thread so much. Thank you for creating it. It is too much fun and I totally live vicariously thru you and the others and it's wonderful.

Especially cuz you folks get it about birb ducks as I do. You are all EEEEEEE over it and understand me. Most people could care less. It is great being in like company with so many awesome people from all over the place.

Ok, @Tevyes Dad & @MamaDux here is my interpretation of hooooopoooose... first you inhale on the hoooooo and exhale on the pooooose... it is a combination of attitude, settling and the profile of what adds up to the awesomeness of DUCK... I feel it is most expressed in the settled down pancakitoons position but can also be seen while standing... note the distinct prominence of the floatation device while the neck is folded up with the bill resting close to or on the said flotation device...

Hooooopoooose... how's that, @Julie Bird ?

ASLDKFJALSKDJFA L;SK @RavynFallen YOU GET ME. THANK YOU. I LOVE YOU. YOU EXPLAINED THE PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SEQUENCE OF HOOPOOSE AND YOU SEE WHAT I SEE WHEN IT COMES TO DUCKS. I APPRECIATE THAT ALOT. IT MEANS I AM RIGHT ABOUT DUCK AND THAT I AM NOT IMAGINING ANY OF IT.

LOOK AT ALL THE PICTURES YOU PUT UP THAT TRIGGERED THAT PART IN MY BRAIN. THE PART THAT REACTS AND KNOWS WHAT CUTE IS ALL ABOUT. YOU GET ME. THANK YOU.

AND SO DO THE OTHER WONDERFUL PEOPLE HERE.
