The difference in curly and smooth breasted Sebastopols

http://www.ehow.com/list_7258154_foods-high-estrogen.html I sure have not found any feed that is 100% soy so they are not getting high levels of soy and you might want to read the other food that have estrogen including grains. HMMM

While soy might not be the main ingredient, anything adds up over time if its a regular part of the diet.
It's even recommended that humans don't eat soy more than 3 times a week.
I simply feel there is enough evidents for concern regarding soy as well as GMO grain products used in most commerical feeds.
If you don't agree GVF well then we'll just have to agree to disagree.
I'm sure as time goes by we'll all know what the fall out from soy and GMO is or isn't.

I guess we already know what the fallout is as far as soybeans. They have always been a part of not just the poultry foods but other livestock as well as dog and cat foods. There are a lot of people with years of experience who have been breeding all kinds of things with no problem. If soybeans were such a problem we would have starved to death years ago or else been infertile. GMO is more recent but at least so far I am having no problems. Others are having no problems. If someone chooses not to eat or feed these things good for them. I am in the same boat as most. I have to buy and feed what is available. Ingredients for poultry feed don't vary tremendously from one part of the country to another. Most people most years have good results. If someone wants to blame modern rations for their own poor results then I say instead of continuing to badger us to death about soy and GMO get off your duff and try something different if you feel that strongly. Make yourself useful by reporting back about action instead of words. Other people make good suggestions about minor adjustments to modern rations. I speak from my own experience as someone who has no choice except to feed the same things everyone else does. I don't care either because a lot of different kinds of birds, cats, dogs and rabbits are all doing very well thank you. The myth of soy proteins replacing meat proteins is just that. A myth. Soy and corn have always been a big part of dog and poultry foods just because it was good business. Boost the protein percentage with the cheapest sources available. Some animal based stuff is no longer available but the point is that a lot of different foods have always been grain based. Cheaper and easier. Good business has some dog food being made without grains because there is a demand for that kind of food and people willing to shell out the bucks. Not happening with poultry food, probably because most of us have nothing to complain about.

Wow, is there some backstory here that I am unaware of? I don't think anyone was badgering anyone to death.

You're right--corn and soy are cheap, which is why they're used. It's a good business practice. Doesn't necessarily mean that it's the healthiest choice.

The article you referenced was obviously published by a biased source. Doesn't mean it doesn't have some good info, but I'd take any claims touting the benefits of soy with a grain of salt.

GVF I for one would like it if you kept the arguing over GMO and soy on the other thread started just to cover that topic. There was a simple question asked about Sebastopols and what others are feeding. We don't need snide comments with links left here to start the debate all over again. Both sides can come up with data and papers and studies to support their side. Flock owners can google and do their reading and don't need a thread discussing the differences in two feather types of a goose to be muddied up by this. Thanks for sharing the links again though.

Early in the morning and I already have three emails about this discussion and a forwarded posting that has since been edited. Others and myself in the past have had the diet discussion and as far as I know all of that is still sitting out there. My own summation was in line with what CelticOaks has expressed here; people ought to have the option and ability to do their own research and come to their own conclusions. As far as BYC I have and sign in with one user identity and that is my name. I do not visit the Goose Forums. It is a waste of time to attempt discussion or enter into pointless arguments with certain mindsets. I'm done with that and when/if I do decide to visit the Goose Forums here it will be as myself. One thing about the small minded thinking that had me back here looking through is that it does look like there have been some interesting discussions. It's easy to miss a sharing of interesting ideas and experiences but it's also not worth the negativity that follows one around even if they aren't any longer present.

Like wise and why I don't post here regularly here anymore either because of a couple individuals who follow me around and diss whatever I have to say. It gets old.
People need to chill and know everybody has their own opinion and its merely that.
No need to try and convince folks otherwise or castigate them for having a differing opinion.

Such a shame to read that experienced and knowledgeable members feel they'd rather not visit and post their opinions. It saddens me to see that peoples experiences, opinions and information are not being shared. It seems that some members opinions have been subjectively and rudely addressed instead of presenting a well crafted and informed alternative opinion that Im sure other members would be interested in.

So maybe time to close that topic which appears to provoke unwarranted retorts and move back to the subject matter of the Difference in Curled and Smooth Sebastopols.
