The Duck Thread

Believe me. I know about emergency rooms. I should go to dr myself. But I suffer through the pain. And illness I have. Tell it runs me to the ground. Then I still try. The only time I get a break is when they hospitalize me. For days. Then I want to go home . Because my house is crazy with eggs animals ducks chicken rabbits ect.

Does anybody know if it's safe to paint ducklings nails? I know this is on other threads but I was just asking. I want to paint Moon's nails (she is 4 weeks)
Can I use normal polis?
Or should I use dog nail polish?

Dog nail polish is probably safe.
But will it be safe for Julie bird? To see painted duck toe webs? It might be tooo cute, dangerously so....
Consider carefully.

Too true. Julie might just swoon!

Congrats! I hear Canada geese can be very nice pets. Just make sure you have your paperwork for yours handy in case Fish and Game gets called and you have to prove they're legal - and you'll have to either pinion them or keep on top of wing clipping so they don't fly away.

@NathanZee I was going to quote you but I don't want to go digging through the last ten pages of pictures to find where your post to me was so I'll just mention you instead

I don't think I'll clip her wing. I can't get near her to do so and if I did it would undo all the progress I've made with her. When she first arrived she'd run at the sight of me if she thought I was looking at her. Now I can actually walk in her direction and pass by her and she doesn't mind which is a huge leap forward. If I grabbed her to clip her she'd probably never trust me again. I don't think she'll leave. I think she came back when she lost her sister because she wanted the company of my other goose and without another goose to leave with I doubt she'll go far. She won't however be allowed to free range.
Haha, its a ways to dig! I think your wise to do that! What kind of goose is the other one?

Looking at peoples cute photos of ducklings making their first trip outside I commented to hubby that apparently I'm not the only one using a pie dish/casserole dish/quiche dish as a duckling swimming pool.
My poor pie dish went from pool to feed dish and is now, after being given a good washing (shhh don't tell anyone else) back in my cupboard.

Also pressed into use are old mugs to scoop feed and my largest stock pot as a water carrier.

Its a duck thing ...... non duck owners would never understand ...
