The Duck Thread

How long before a drakes mating takes over? A pekin drake got one of my Ancona girls and I think we've lost the Ancona male. I want to incubate pure Anconas before it's too late.

@NathanZee . This is after 3 days in the wrap. Do I need to re-wrap the wing (for angle wing)
I know the angle wing threads say to wrap for 5-7 days. But since he was caught early?? What would you do?
Started like this

And after 3 days in wrap

Thanks for all your help and advice
Linda
It looks great! I think because you caught it early you can probably just leave it off. But still be watching him, and if you let him forage for a lot of his food while the wing feathers come in I think he will be fine! When he flaps the wing does it still look normal?

Yes, it looks normal when he flaps. I have noticed the wing tip is more noticeable on the left side when he tucks them in. You can see more of the white tip on the left than on the right side. I will watch him. If it does start slipping, I will re-wrap and leave it longer
Thank you Nathan

What breed is my duck?

Hi. I have some Sweedish/Pekin crosses. They all have orange legs and dark bills. This is a buff colored Sweedish, looks sorta like yours.

Should I be worried? My runner had been nesting for about a month now and we've been waiting impatiently for the ducklings but it got to the point were she's not getting off the nest at all.

Have you candled the eggs to see if they are developing? If she isn't getting off by herself, remove her from the nest and get her to eat, drink, and take a short bath for about 15 minutes every day.

I haven't been able to. She used to get off everytime I opened her door or reach in but she doesn't move when I go in there anymore.
