The EE braggers thread!!!

Does any one know why my EE's egg yolks are darker and seem to be slightly thicker in consistancy? My other chickens are red stars, black stars and a Wyandotte. All kept together on the same feed, but the EE's eggs seem to be slightly superior in yolk color and taste.

Just thought I should finally introduce our new EE roo Phoenix.

He is beautiful (oh I guess I mean handsome)! Our boy Oreo, started out black and white only (his color is still changing he is only 15 wks now) but over the last month or so he has started "rusting" quite a bit of the white in his neck and back is getting red, looks like he is coloring up similar to your Phoenix, guess I'll just have to wait and see.

I saw Phoenix at my friends house when he was younger and he looked like my Comet on my BYC page but younger. So Phoenix "rusted" over too.

It's what causes them to be lower in cholesterol!

Sorry, I could not resist. I think that is a misnomer, but the fact remains that E.E. eggs are very good and a lot of my egg customers swear that they are lower in cholesterol, but I have read extensively and it seems to be a subject of great controversy!

I had better stop before I get branded as a troublemaker and BANNED! (It took me awhile to figure out that Banned was not a title, but rather a status!)

Hmmm. I had heard that from my mother in law about the low cholesterol, but it seems like the yolk would be thinner not thicker if that were the case. Anyway, I don't have a nutrition meeter wand or anything, but I would believe it if someone said they were higher in fat and nutrients! LOL!

The egg that I am refering to is a light blue, large adn is from my big EE. She is a beautiful golden orange color with blue feathers on her tail. I accidently got an EE boy as a mystry chick from Mcmurrays. I may try hatching some of her eggs for a future generation. They are that good!

My EE chicks (females) are always bigger than the others when young, but other breeds tend to catch up. I wouldn't worry about them being cockerels based on size alone.

lauriruth -- ahh.. Thank you!

Does anyone have an EE hen with Columbian markings? I'm getting a bit worried here with one of my 6 wk. old "Pullets" from MPC. i'd post a pic of "her", but i'm seriously terrified that you will all scream "ROOO"!
