The EE braggers thread!!!

Hahaha!!!!!! What will he say when these 'surprises' come home? XD
Probably nothing, Im sure he expects it from me. Ill probably get a smirk, eye roll and head shake. One day he may say ENOUGH CHICKENS. but that would be very odd because who says they have enough chickens

Um, I couldn't.

I really wish I could've, but I'll watching that chick like a hawk. It's coming to school with me!! (Don't worry I'm homeschooled. ;D) She'll be alright for a week right??? If I stuck a small stuffed animal in there for her to cuddle with at night, she'll make it right?
I hatched a lone chick and the mirror did the trick until I got a few babies to go along with it. That little chick just cuddled up right next to the mirror and happily churped away. Now she has playmates and sometimes she still goes over to the mirror and cuddles it. Good luck.

I had a single chick, a silkie serama cross who was raised with a mirror and fluffy stuff and held a lot. She is in with other bantams now and although the smallest she can take care of her self and does well. The other bantams are seramaNN, silkes, and polish. She still does not mind being held.

wow over 70 posts just read & I'm finally caught up!!!

Congrats to all the new EE owners & to those who have just had chicks.

I have 34 eggs(all looked well 1/2 way thru) in lock down w/ day 21 landing on Sat. I have a tape baby among the 34

yes a tape baby. I was candling eggs on the 15th-> got startled & lost my grip on an egg ...it fell on top of the others and had a cave-in like crack in the middle of the egg (no broken membrane) so in a panic I grabbed my handy electrical tape & patched it up & checked for life- still good - yesterday was lock down time so I figured I would gently take the tape off to give a better chance at hatching & to check for life. Got the tape removed w/ no more damage & held it to my ear.....click click click!!!
It will be the first to hatch as it's zipping away. I first thought it was a RIR/EE cross, I grouped each hen breed together, but I guess I mixed up that egg because the chick is black w/ yellowish/white feathering on wings & possibly some other areas I'm guessing.

Sadly the little one took after it's mom w/ a single comb but adorable none the less!!! Will this chick be able to be sexed based off of it's fuzz color?

Will be adding photos as soon as more decide to come out to play!!!

Just for fun::
Anyone want to voice their guesses on chick color? Below is Road Runner, he's the dominant roo & was the only one mounting when eggs were collected. I have, Jail Bird, a barred roo(younger) has EE in him started crowing right around 1/2 collecting eggs but didn't try to mount anyone till for a couple weeks ago. My big group of gals like Road Runner & have evaded Jail Bird's attempts, so he is sticking pretty much to just trying with his 4 gals.

So again daddy Road Runner
hens are RIR, NH, EE(wild type color/chipmunk), black Australorp, Barred Rock

P.S. My first barred EE lady has been starting to investigate the nesting barrel!! My second barred EE lady is hopefully not too far behind since her man friend started crowing the other day!

You are not a redneck unless you use duct tape... but good save anyway.

That is the handsomest rooster I have ever seen. Absolutely stunning. What is he? Is there any hope of ever finding one like him? I love the lacing, the black glossy tail - and the fuzzy face!
