What a pretty boy!
Just jumping in here!...i just got myself a beautiful ee roo today! And i am wanting to breed him woth my marans, ee's, and rir. And am hoping for some colored eggs from the offspring. But is there a way to tell if he carries the blue egg gene. He has a (im pretty sure) pea comb. And his beard is blue. Willow colored legs. Idk if that helps at all. I will post up a pick of him tomorrow when i get to work (better service on my phone). Thanks!![]()
So pretty! Wow girls can have quite a red cone too. Did she have a black beard when she was young?
If you can afford it,I have heard the electric netting works great.
I have a family (3+) of foxes living in the fifty or so acres in and around my farm, but decided to risk it so my hens can range. I lose 1-3 a year, but my dog Keeps a good eye on them and I think the enjoy roaming about. If yor really worried, keep your animals up and set out tras or put out poisoned meat, should solve the issue. (I haven't done it because of my neighbor's daughters dog, dont wanna kill it by mistake)He's so pretty! Love his coloring. My cockeral EE is very skittish, the only reason he gets near me is because he sees me petting the BO pullets and they run right up to me and start becking at my clothes and stuff and he watches me pet them and they don't mind. He won't let me get to close or he runs for it. He's smart tho when I go to put the girls in the crate to sleep at night he will run in really quick so I don't pick him up lol. Soon I will be moving them down to the big coop and I won't have to do that anymore, yay!
I was going to free range them but now I'm really worried because I saw a fox in the yard.I'm thinking of going with poultry netting, so they will be able to get out of their run.
Thank you! I think she did but I dont remember for sure and I dont have any pictures of her as a chick I wish I did though.I took that picture about 2 weeks before she started laying so thats why her comb is so red.She was a very late layer though she is around 10 months in that picture. So pretty! I don't know for sure if he carries the blue egg gene - but he sure is handsome! I would guess he does - I have never seen one like that from a hatchery - and if somebody bred him it looks like he has a lot of Ameraucana in there. Do you know what the mix is?
