If your EE hen does lay Blue, and all offspring from the breeding lay blue, it is pretty good shot that both are full blue.

I do know sometimes hatcheries sell Less than Standard quality Ameraucanas as EE's - so he may very well be such.

I have a family (3+) of foxes living in the fifty or so acres in and around my farm, but decided to risk it so my hens can range. I lose 1-3 a year, but my dog Keeps a good eye on them and I think the enjoy roaming about. If yor really worried, keep your animals up and set out tras or put out poisoned meat, should solve the issue. (I haven't done it because of my neighbor's daughters dog, dont wanna kill it by mistake)

I could never put poison meat out I have 4 dogs, three little ones and a old German Shepard. I'm sure the coons would get it before the fox anyway that's what always happens while I'm trying to catch the ground squirrels the darn mice eat all the corn before the squirrels go in it. When I finally got the squirrel it flipped the trap and opened it up.
I have heard fox is very hard to catch in a trap with my luck I wouldn't catch him. Then there's the cost of the large live trap those thing are expensive! I have a coon size one but this guy is pretty big, I'm sure he wouldn't go in that. My wildlife rescue friend said she would send me the info on a lady who traps and relocates them but I'm willing to bet that won't be cheap. And then what, another one just comes along. I'm thinking the money would be better in the long run going towards a electric poultry fence. Loosing 1to3 a year would be heart breaking for me that would be most of my LF flock. And I know I've said it before but I love my chickens they run to me and I can pet some of them. I'm thinking the fence would be a good piece of mind. At least it will give them a better chance.

He looks similar to a blue Wheaten Ameraucana, so I would guess he most likely does carry the Blue egg gene. He could however be only carrying a single blue egg gene. So depending on what you cross him on  will determine what you get.

If he is 100% Blue egger then:
Marans you will get Olive eggers
RIR's you will get Green eggers
On the EE, it again depends on her genes. whether she has 1,2 or no blue egg genes, if she lays blue,green or olive eggs she has at least 1 copy of blue egg gene.

If he is 50% blue egger then:
Marans you will get 50% olive eggers and 50% brown
RIR's you will get 50% green eggers and 50% brown
EE - again, it depends on her gene's - but it will be between 50% and 100% either blue or green and brown ...

If the EE lays blue eggs, at least 25% of the offspring should lay blue eggs.

Unfortunately, the only way to truly tell is to breed him to the girls, raise the offspring until they lay and see what they lay.

Thank you so much for all the info I can't wait to start my little project. I have a blu e EE girl that is about five or six month old. She is not currently laying but I can't wait till she is so I can breed them. I would love to see their offspring. The breeder had rumpless ee roos in with her hens. So im thinkin theres a good chance my blue girl will have two blue egg genes.I also have an all white EE and a very colorful EE girls. both lay light blue eggs. The white one is a cross with a leg horn her eggs are huge! So I know both of them carry the

blue a gene at least one. I can't wait to see what my blue EE girl will lay. She should be laying in the next month. I will definitely post up pictures and keep you updated on my project. In the meantime here's some pictures of my girls and my new roo.

Ok, I got a pic for you. I should state first that my girl did not have hardly any black on her like yours till a couple weeks ago. They change so much so fast it is hard to keep up with them. lol

I swear, EEs are some of the most beautiful chickens. It's funny that they're mutts. We got two new EE chicks this year, both supposed girls, named Turnip and Hortense. They're 11 weeks old already! Also: I love posting oodles of pictures.

Turnip loves to pose for the camera. She's such a weird color; I've never had an EE that looked like her before.








Hortense dead center, photobombed by Turnip with the weird face and Tony the Brahma looking grumpy as usual. Hortense is a normal looking EE, though. Funny that I picked a couple of chicks that look nothing like our older EEs. We've got a rainbow!

I got the nice breeder lady to send me a pic of my little blue girls papa! He has a lot of the same features as my roo. Unfortunately theres too many ee or ameruacana hens that she has to know the mama....But is he a true ameruacana?

True Ameraucana is a hard statement to make...LOL
IMHO - without a registry it is hard to REALLY know, thats why just about everything but Chickens have a registry.
However, I am not bashing APA or the Ameraucana Club for anything - a registry for chickens would be completely insane! LOL

However , the APA doesn't even recognize naturally occuring colors that come from completely legitimate breeding of the recognized colors, so.....

Well thank you RoosterLew! I appreciate you taking time to spell it all out for me! Haha. But no the breeder said she bought him from a breeder who said he was a "true" ameraucana... Im new to having a rooster and also to breeding. So i figured this would be a fun little experiment. I cant wait to see the little chicks from all of them. What im wanting as my final result is a lot of color variety in my eggs. So im thinking i should be able to acheive that with the variety i got. :-D
