That is one of he most beautiful EE hens I have ever seen. I could gaze at her all day long. Where did you get her from?

She is beautiful. I have one named skyfire that could be her twin and she was from Meyer hatchery.

I think your Miss blue has more blue then my skyfire.

Truly, that blue lacing is phenomenal. I keep trying for a similar effect in my own birds, but so far I am getting the blue as the under color and the lacing comes out as a different color over top. Pretty, but not like these girls.

Hi, I'm pretty new to chickens and have purchased what was advertised as an americauna pullet, and a gold laced wyandotte pullet to add to my flock of three australorps. I have read several times that most "americaunas" are actually mixed breeds, which makes them easter eggers... She's cute, so it doesn't really matter to me, but is there a way to tell? My other question is: do EE's have color designations? They seem to come in so many colors! Here's a pic of my little lady, I'm debating whether her name is mariposa or farrah fawcet...

The ameraucana's are bred for specific colors, if it doesn't fit in the (I think it is about 5-7 color types) then it is said to be EE. Other tell tale signs are green or willow legs (instead of slate), lays other then blue, or has a comb other then pea (I believe).

EE's don't have any specific colors in any rule book b/c they aren't an "approved" breed.

Thanks Kassaundra for your reply, I was just wondering if the black and white would be considered a splash like it seems to be in the silkies? She doesnt seem to have any specific pattern, but we'll see when she gets her adult feathers. Her legs are a funny color, paler than my wyandotte and slightly greenish. Doesnt seem to have the puffy cheek thing going on... I'm super excited to see what color she lays when shes older.

Not sure if her color/pattern would be called splash, but she is not an Ameraucana. She is very pretty, and that color pattern is similar to other pics posted on this thread. Especially Illia's EE's. My only black and white develoved red (in the hackles, and wings) and a crow!
