Silkie Princess
Crossing the Road
I'm so sorrySad news today. One of our GLW, Butternut, (her feathers reminded me of the color of the inside of the squash), had been badly limping for a few weeks. She was unable to roost and had a hard time moving around the coop so my aunt brought her in the mudroom so she wouldn’t get picked on and have to fight for a spot at the feeder. Well, I think she might’ve been depressed from being alone, and she showed in her appetite. I could get her to eat a little scrambled egg, but she turned her nose up at everything else including wet mash. I could usually get her to eat a little when I went over but I have limited availability hours during the work week so I can’t sit and hand feed her all day (only after work) and my aunt is a bit more hands-off than I am. Poor thing was so weak from not eating that my uncle came and put her down. I feel terrible. The ground is too frozen to bury her.
