. I have been driving small SUV's for 30 years, starting with a Chevy S-10 blazer, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and now a Toyota Highlander. The Highlander has traction control, AWD and all the safety features of yours, and drives great, although unfortunately has many other issues (apparently unusual for a Toyota). They all have lasted for over 150,000 miles (except the Toyota, so far only 90,000). A car is only as old as the miles on it and the maintenance it has had - age in years has nothing to do with it, fortunately. We just bought BF a replacement car in Florida, a Mercury Grand Marquee (he loves them), 16 years old but impeccable with only 61,000 miles on it.

I hope that the longevity of this one is indicated by the condition it's in now. It really did look like that old saying, "an old lady only drove it to church on Sundays" and the mileage of one this age would normally be more closer to 90K. Of course, considering that I own a 21 year old sedan with only 151K miles on it myself, I know that it probably won't rack up the miles much faster than it already has, not unless I have to go down to my father's house soon. He's almost 94 so "that" time is coming.

Now, I have a vehicle I would trust to make it to Ladyhawk's in Kentucky. My Lumina is having an issue with manifold gasket leaking antifreeze very slowly, a common problem with this engine at this mileage. I don't trust it to go on long trips because of that problem. Inside and out, it looks almost new itself (or would if I cleaned out all the shavings and hay trash in there and actually washed it for a change, lol).

Ha, my mother's 1982 Oldsmobile that my dad still owns has less than 100K miles on it. It's a TANK, lol.

What a nice SUV, I really like it. You will love a Honda, they are AWESOME! I had one years ago and it might still be running the roads today had I not been in an accident that sent it to the salvage yard.

I am so excited about Rachel's babies!!! Do they start to peep when they move into the air sack?

Yes, they can. Rachel and Ro's babies were dancing all over the place in there. I hope she doesn't kill one on purpose. If she does, will have to remove them from her ASAP, but that leaves her hormones not satisfied and would have to try to shake her out of her trance.


Good to know about the Honda. I will need to make another electronic key-it only had one. It does have a remote starter that was apparently something the former owner bought, don't think that came with this model. Took awhile to figure out what it was; even the sales folks didn't know, probably because it looks like a teensy leaf blower, not one of the rectangular ones.

Am putting my bottom lot up for sale, 1.77 acres. Been thinking about it for awhile now. It's a nice one, very squarish, sloped and rolling, but not steep. Any livestock is allowed except pigs, but no mobile homes are allowed. If anyone knows someone who'd like to live in the mountains and doesn't want a ton of acreage, this one is a bargain, selling for what we paid about 12 years ago. We have it on our front page of Blue Roo Creations with a slideshow, but I'll probably put an ad here on BYC, too. We're having the lot between us and this one brushed, stumped and smoothed out, may see if the guy will seed some of it, too, so it should be really pretty, and will run a fence on the lot line between the 1.38 ac lot and the 1.77 acre one we're selling and connect it to our standing perimeter fence. We're going to keep the 1.38 acre lot so privacy is maintained for both of us.

Rachel's chicks are all in the air cell and have been for hours. Surely by now one has pipped, but she isn't making the right sounds. I can tell when she feels one move underneath her and she will look at her underside and growl, not cluck for chicks to come to food as she ought to be doing. We have a brooder ready and I hope we can get there in time if she is going on a murder spree. Have to get out there right now to check on her and it's cold and dark. Bad Rachel. And now, I heard Dottie starting to cluck again. I have too much on my plate for her to try this on me right now.

You just never know, Angela. I don't want to lose even one of Atlas's first chicks. One egg was pipped a bit ago, Ro's, and I sent Tom out to check on her. We are both exhausted and really don't need an all-nighter, but we're ready to bring them inside one by one if necessary. And I have someone coming tomorrow to get started on making part of my overgrown, logged messy land a pasture, plus have to get insurance on the CR-V. We're going to be staggering in the morning.

Day 21 Morning Report:

There are two eggs pipped, one Ro's, one Dottie's. Ro's was pipped yesterday, the pip is larger and the chicks are cheeping. Rachel is just sitting, being a good mama, but then, she hasn't seen what's going to come out of those eggs yet. And she isn't clucking or calling them to food like most broodies do at this stage. So, my poor husband went out every couple of hours all night long to check on her, to be sure she wasn't committing chickacide.

But, now, sun is coming up and it will be easier to monitor, in between dealing with the guy who will be working our adjoining lot and getting the insurance squared away on our CR-V, if they're even there today. I assume they don't take a holiday like this one off work, but who knows around here?

Good morning! Thanks for the update. The first thing that crossed my mind this morning as I was waking up was if the babies hatched. Keeping my fingers crossed that Rachel's maternal instinct kicks in pronto. I will be watching for updates like I hawk......hmmm....probably shouldn't use the hawk metaphor and call down in bad juju on anyone. LOL!

It sounds like you have a very busy day planned. It is too bad you all aren't selling 10 acres, we could be your neighbors.
