I still want to get one of those for the barn that I can keep in the workshop nearby (formerly the old hens' coop). May have to try again in the new barn and just keep it blown out better since we now have several extras.

I'm glad everyone is being cautious and prepared. The horse farm where I work has 6 large barns, all made of wood, and no sprinkler system in any of them. The thought of barn fires - especially with horses - is terrifying and happens all too frequently. This farm does have automatic fire alarm connections in each barn to a central station which will dispatch the fire company when set off. The only trouble with that is we have a lot of false alarms for one reason or another. But it's better than having the barns burn down unattended.

They live about an hour and a half away from us. She can stay with her son, I'm sure, did that the last time.

It was a bad day all round. Didn't sleep myself, dogs incessantly barking all night, but I usually fall asleep. Didn't until after 2 a.m., then the news as soon as I checked email about Sherry's house, then the doctor we've been forced to see due to military healthcare insurance changes decided he doesn't like my husband (doctor is arrogant and self-important, a real God complex, you cannot disagree with him, refers everything, won't dispense pain meds, pushes vaccines, calls you pig-headed if you don't follow exactly what he says to do, etc) and today, he said don't come back, which means I also have to find another doctor. My husband can get in at the VA but I can't so here we go again. I do not want to go to the limited insurance because I cannot afford it. It has no annual fee, but there is a minimum plus a percentage of whatever. It's more complicated and can run into lots of $$ if you have something unexpected, like my ankle surgery. I want the program i've had for years and years, TriCare Prime, which still goes up every year, but has a low co-pay on everything. Still, stuck with doctors within 40 miles of a closed base or something like that, so again, an hour away. We had a great doctor in town until they did this to us and now this jerk we don't even like won't see us. The other is some holistic guy my husband won't go to and i frankly don't want to start over with some other arrogant jerk. For the time being, we are doctor-less. Pretty soon they'll say no more military healthcare at all, we'd have to do Obamacare and they can just suck eggs. Ack! What a day!

But on the other hand, I have a funny chick story. Wynette's kids and Ida's kids met at the fence. One of Wynette's boys raised up, flared out his little hackles like a big rooster to face off with his little brother, who seemed a tad confused and just stood there. But, not for long. Ida came up from behind, saw the standoff and delivered a sound thunk through the fence to the bully's noggin, who ran screaming back to his own mama.

It was the only bright spot in my day other than seeing Atlas's kind expression when he looks at me. Those little men are hysterical at times, I swear!

Actually, no, she was busy scratching around about 10 ft away. I have noticed her starting to let them wander further now that they are 7 weeks old. Pretty soon, she may decide to go back to her usual self again.
