The showbird feed is 24%, so you're close enough with what you're already feeding them. Just make sure they get some animal protein too. I know the feed you were using was really good stuff, and had animal protein, not just vegetable protein. I like to use the showbird feed for chicks, but get them off of it when they begin to lay. I also like it during molt. Otherwise, I find the protein content to be just a tad too high, and keeping them on it, interferes with their laying.
Yes, my regular feed has porcine protein. If it didn't, I'd be supplementing them in winter, at least, when the bugs are scarce, with eggs and maybe the cheapest cut of ground hamburger and a tiny bit of liver occasionally. I don't think the co-op carries any show feed and the TSC here didn't have any when I was there that I could see. They were really limited at that time. I am very leery of TSC anyway. And the other feed store got infested with weevils from a bad shipment so they're out for awhile until they get their problem solved.
