The Feather Mountain Flock!

Oh. My. Gosh. A Shiptons Big R, not local, I visited had BANTAM COCHINS!!!!:celebrate My favs! And Mille Fleur D'Uccles! I've been interested in those for a while! It took EVERYTHING for me to resist. But, I did. Our current feathery little ones are wonderful as is and sooo sweet!:love Should try to get some updated pics soon..they're getting to their rebellious stage;) and growing into their new feathers!

Ok interesting news, Lacey our GLW is sitting on some eggs!:ya It wasn't planned she just went broody so we thought we'd let her try hatching them! This is our first attempt at any sort of hatching and to be honest I'm a little scattered because we weren't prepared for it so I hadn't been reading up on it much before, a little knowledge but I've been doing more. I want the best for the chicks but were mostly just letting her go for it, we havent put her separate from the nest or anything, I am thinking on putting some sort of curtains on the nest for privacy. Were about a week in and just noticing some starting development!:clapWill try to update on this thread for big updates, I do have a separate thread specific to it but I will post updates here as well! Wish Lacey and us luck and hopefully they hatch! I have always wanted chicks from our chickens! Whew, nuff said for now, update later!:jumpy

Oooh! Good luck with her! We've gotten some cold temps here as well but nothing abnormal for our region and nothin severe so Lacey is still outside:)

Oh also candled the egg with the most development tonight and it's still truckin! I have to pry myself away from candling for a few days now, don't want to handle them too much..
