for the two to make a quick recovery.
I have one that is zipped right now waiting for it to make its grand entrance. There are two more eggs in with it that I don't hold much hope on. They weren't moving when I put them into lockdown but figured I have been wrong before.

Here is the one little Silkie. I still don't think the other two made it but will leave them in an extra day or two when I move the other eggs for lockdown on Saturday.

Just got done candling my 64 eggs tonite (day 7) had 2 infertiles and one in ?. So it looks as if I won't get much relief from having to hand turn all those suckers, guess I shouldn't have set so many but what the hay its an addiction right, see at least I'm not in denial over being such a fiend of hatching chicks, huh?

I'll check the one in ? on day 10 to be more sure of what's up and I'll give another progression report on day 14. Happy hatching everbody.

So as for my first hatch, I think things age going well. We are on Day 6 and I wanted to candle to see how things are going. Obviously, it is easier at night, but I wanted to show my kiddos. So I checked a couple and I have "spiders" in all three I looked at. I am SO excited. I did add a little humidity this morning after reading others post. It was maintaining between 27-30% with all the wells filled. So I put a sponge in there and now it is around 37, which I think (from what I read is better). Happy hatchin' ya'll

Candling shows all the eggs making progress, no blood rings and good air cells. Turner removed, to allow the chicks to settle and orientate for hatching.

Okay, not sure where my real name should be--I'm Judy Davis from south central Indiana. Started out with the intention of raising peafowl, and it all expanded from there.
Maybe someone can help me with my incubating problems. Until last year I was using a Brower Top Hatch--no problem, just keep the reservoir filled and stop turning on day 18. Then I decided to up the ante and bought a GQF incubator and hatcher pair. Now I'm getting chicks that are fully or almost fully developed but not hatching but a few that pop out bright-eyed and fuzzy butted. All are going over the 21 days.
I've read the generic trouble-shooting guides, and I'm already keeping the temperature and humidity steady according to the standards, flipping the eggs over daily in addition to the automatic turner, and begging them to be healthy. Just hatched one of 10 black copper marans; the others all died in the shell.
Any suggestions from the more experienced hatchers out there would be much appreciated!

Green food coloring has been used to mark the heads of the Light Brahma x EE chicks that hatched on Feb 15th. Black Permanent Marker was used on the middle toe of the right foot of the pure Light Brahmas for identification purposes.
