Spaying your hens? Interesting but is it worth the effort? my freedom ranger hens were not that much smaller than my cockerels were, slightly but not what I would consider worth it...

Seriously? Please, tell me more - I have a two-year-old EE who has egg yolk peritonitis and we are keeping her going on Lupron shots and antibiotics. If it were possible to give her a hysterectomy so she could survive I would be thrilled.

I've known several people that have spayed their special ones, especially the ones who have egg problems.

Heck I've seen pictures of a SERAMA hen that got spayed. The owner took pictures through the little hens surgery.

The purpose of poulardizing is to fatten a hen to be eaten. Fat gives the bird more moisture and flavor.
