~The Forests of Avalon, A Dragon Roleplay~ 2

Tanis took a second step backwards towards the water, and felt her heartbeat increase slightly when her claws touched the water. She had nowhere to go, besides either facing him or trying to swim...she wasn't sure which was worse. He was bigger and stronger then her, she knew it... and she knew he knew it too. Was this what real battle was like? She didn't even know. Her head swung around nervously, trying to spot him in the brightening, but still dim light. A rock landed not far from her in the water with a loud splash and she jumped, then chided herself under her breath, keep it together Tanis! What are you? A chicken!?

Droll chuckled to himself, he loved it when his prey got this on-edge. He made his way around Tanis as quietly as he could, then took off when she was looking the other way. He flew up a bit then glided around to come at Tanis from behind her, in the direction of the lake and the direction she would never think the next strike would come from.

(I don't think her only options are swimming or facing him, unless that's part of your plan.

If her wings didn't get injured she might be able to out-fly him. They are probably just about equal in their speed, because though Droll is bigger he is also stronger, but she could try flying down low through the trees where Droll's size would work against him. She would be more agile and more able to dodge the trees than him.)

(I know, guess we'll play a game of catch-me-if-you-can-before-I-rip-your-throat-out now lol

Being on edge as it was, Tanis was able to pick up the sound of his wings as he took flight. Getting such a large dragon into the air wasn't exactly the most quiet endeavour. Even so, he was quick for a dragon his size, and by the time she spun around and got a read on him visually, she only just had time to duck and flatten herself against the wet sand before his claws sailed over her head. Taking the opportunity to gain some of the advantage, she took off across the lake, gaining speed across the water before pulling up sharply to put distance between them before had could turn around. Lets see how good of a flyer he is!

btw, like my new sigy?)

Droll cursed to himself when he missed her and pulled around hard to regain a visual. She was easy to spot with her scales shining in the pre-dawn light. Droll, however, with his Jet-Black scales that almost seemed to suck in light around them, would be much harder to spot for a while, especially from above like Tanis was. He flapped his powerful wings hard and slowly began to close the gap between the two dragons. "Go ahead and run, kid," he yelled with a load and menacing chuckle, "makes it more fun!"

It took a second, but Tanis did manage to spot Droll's large black form slowly rising towards her from the lake below. She whipped around and darted towards a dense patch of trees about a mile away. The wind ripped around her face and wings, and gave her an unexpected burst of confidence. In the air it didn't matter as much who was stronger in terms of brute strength, what mattered was your speed and strategy. A small idea had been forming in her head since she had taken off, and now it actually seemed like it might work. It was certainly dangerous, and undoubtably crazy. After stealing a glance over her shoulder to see exactly how far Droll was away, and roughly estimate his speed, she dipped down below the treeline and appeared to land for a second.

Droll watched Tanis in amusement, then took the bait and dove at her. He expected a trick from her, but chose to appear to fall for it just to see what she would do.

After disappearing momentarily below the trees and out of sight, Tanis reappeared a small distance away, winging her way across the treetops. She was so close that the tallest branches brushed up against her belly as she streaked over them. After casting one more glance over her shoulder at him again, her wings steadied for a second to allow her to dip into the trees again, but during her brief descent one of her wings got caught in a thick tangle of branches and dragged her out of the air. Without her wings to hold her, she fell about 10 feet further before her leg became stuck in a forked branch.

Droll chuckled at Tanis' display and landed near where she was hanging. He mostly stayed under trees that had thicker, denser canopies which still casted darker shadows. "Well well," his voice echoed, "seems we have a little kitty stuck up a tree." As he walked, he limped ever so slightly on the foot Tanis had nearly bitten a chunk out of. He hopped up to perch in one of the trees where he could see Tanis struggling, but she couldn't see him without knowing right where to look.

(Kickin' potatoes eh? That's a first! lol)

Jasper stumbled sideways when she hit his back, taken off guard as he hadn't been expecting someone else to have come down on top of him like he had to Maggie. He cursed loudly when he was forced to take a step with his injured foot, but didn't fall down completely. What in the blazes is this?! In order to stop her kicking, and save some of the scales on his back, he suddenly slapped both his wings up together and sandwiched Frill between them like a piece of cheese. He twisted his head backwards to peer at his attacker, and his cold blue eyes widened in surprise at the sight of her.

Maggie still wasn't quite 'with it' and she continued to lose her balance each time she tried to stand on her own. Slowly but surely, she made her way across the small clearing trampled by the falling dragons, falling and staggering, until she nearly collapsed into Silv.

Adeline worked her way along the edges of the clearing, through the trees until she stood by Silv's side, and prodded the unconcious dragoness. "We should get out of here..." She hissed urgently in Silv's ear. She wasn't sure if Maggie would recognise her, but she couldn't take the chance of her mentioning to Camilla that she had spotted Adeline siding with the enemy, and Camilla assuming she had somehow turned on Pelendava. It was opening a bucket of worms that was much better left for another day...

(Yeah, thought we needed some new moves. Frill's a ninja)
Frill, well squished between Jasper's wings, wrapped the talons of one claw in a tight fist and socked him in the eye as he turned to look at her.

"Adeline, we have guests though, how rude of you." He mocked, "You realize if we leave, we are going up? And more so, do you realize what is above us? Can you wait??!"

Tanis looked a bit unnerved, and her struggles were certainly genuine, but instead of looking for Droll, she appeared to be searching for something else. If she heard him speak she gave no hint of it, and before he was hardly finished his last sentance, a loud snapping sound echoed through the trees, followed by the sound of slapping branches and leaves. A thickly woven net of vines, each laced with sharp thorns, fell downwards from the tree tops and on top of Droll. Set off by his movement, and with the help of those who created it, it wrapped tightly around his wings, neck, mouth, legs, tail and across his entire body and stopped him entirely from moving. From behind Tanis, a golden colored dragoness stepped out onto a branch and peering triumphantly at Droll. "Nice work Tanis! Right on target!"

The net had been strung together by Kyra, Arrow, Chandler and Coraline to help defend the cave where the injured would be tended to, against an outside attack. The vines were thick, strong and not easily cut through by claws without painstakingly sawing at them. During the few moments where she appeared to land, Tanis had informed Kyra of her intentions to lure Droll into the trap, although actually getting stuck herself had not been part of the plan.
