The Front Porch Swing

Did y'all notice a little change? Perhaps a slight alteration in a certain young BYCer's username? ;)

Anyway, I can't move into the garage yet. The temp is still kinda off because we need insulation for the garage door, but we will get that in the next couple days. For now, I'm planning out an A/C cover for it.

It doesn't look great but it works, but I figured making it look nicer would make it easier for Dad to pass by it without saying anything.

The cover I'm imagine invokes a wood frame and copper-painted metal grate. I think if I color match the wood to the trim around the window, it'll look very nice.

So much to do! I'm also selling a bunch of my ducks right now, so I'm schmoozing in the Facebook sale pages. :D

that reminds me, my mother always had these super heavy velvet floor-to ceiling curtains over our front door, to keep the cold out.... maybe you can find some at the thrift store. Visually appealing too.

Woo Hoo you got hold of a Mod.... LOL.

You could also paint the metal of the Air conditioner... But a thin plywood housing would be awesome... Just dont cover anything that looks like ventilation or air coming out of the cooler.

Some Wrought Iron to cover the vent would be pretty too.

I think I have some blackout curtains that I can use. I'm gonna need them to keep the heat out, haha! Luckily, this window gets a lot of shade from the trees in front of it. I also need to set up a big, curved curtain rod. I'm gonna make that myself, though. :)

I'm going to try and look through some estate sales for some metal grating or some wrought iron for this. I really want it to look nice so it doesn't look like an eyesore. Also, so people aren't tempted to steal it. If you aren't careful around here, someone will try to steal your A/C and they'll mess up your window while they are at it. :(

Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I'm getting a returned bird today. A couple months back, I sold a gosling to a local lady. I got it sexed but the seller's wife is better at it than he is and she wasn't available, so it was iffy. I told her so and she said it was fine.

Well, this goose is big now and does NOT like her mother in law. He/she chases her around something awful and so she is being forced to get rid of it. So here I am, taking a goose I've never met before.

If it's a male, I'll have to find him a girlfriend. If it's a girl, I've got an angry lady on my hands who may calm down a bit if I get her a calmer male. Either way, I got paid $15 for a goose that I didn't have to raise myself. I feel really bad that this lady can't keep her buddy, but I also understand that some things just don't work out. She could have sold him but I appreciate that she's just giving him back to me.

I thought about it but I'm not sure. I'll probably have to wait until Cathy passes on, honestly, because she's the kind of lady who'd rather castrate her goose than put him down because he's aggressive.
