The Gen Z Thread

you are in the same generation as me :lau
If you are a x/y generation then fine, you are comfortable with labels.

What happens when a person that is happy with labeling themselves racist comes up to that race that they don't like? Why don't we label ourselves as human beings and stop all this anti-Semitic, racist, neo-nazi, Catholic, Muslim, Cristian, etc. Junk? We live in the same damn planet.

and telling somebody who has depression to "just be positive" is REALLY damaging. I went through years of my life where I hated myself because I couldn't fix it. I did everything, I looked on the positive side of EVERYTHING.. at the end of the day, I was still depressed. I got so ANGRY at myself, thinking I wasn't good enough, if I just tried harder, stayed a little bit more positive..

but it doesn't work that way.

Ok, Listen.

You can feel depressed. Lots of people have periods of depression. But some people (like me) are clinically depressed and there is no amount of positive thinking that will make it go away.
Ok, and I feel bad for you, is it's some new unknown un-treatable disease? Have antidepressants stopped having an effect on you? Or are you on them?

I've been antidepressants for awhile now. Depression is "treatable" to some extent. It doesn't go away, you just learn to live with it. You learn how to be stronger than the thoughts, you learn to take a break and take care of yourself. It never ever goes away though.

If you where once depressed, but you no longer are you went through a period of depression. You weren't depressed.

People with depression battle everyday. Its really hard, you wouldn't imagine the simple tasks that weigh you down every day.

Unless you experience this, it is not fair to say that "people break at the tiniest things"

because rarely its the tiniest thing, its the tiniest thing upon tiniest thing, until it becomes one massive BIG deal that tears you apart.

You might not understand different sexualities, but please don't dismiss them. :)

And please don't dismiss mental health like that.
Many people suffered from depression, but there wasn't an official name for the diagnosis or equipment to understand it, back then, so it was ignored.
People were just put in psychiatric hospitals and given electroshock therapy, or told they were being irrational- or even that they were possessed, in some instances.
Our technology, connecting and understanding, has come a very long way since then. Our medicines and doctors have also come a long way since then. Please don't dismiss that.
Never dismissed it, chemical imbalances that cause problems are a reality and then there's the rest of the population that unfortunately have been made to think in certain ways. And that's the people I was talking about

@KingB do you have something you would like to say? is mental illness funny to you?
I struggle with it as well..
I never talk about it, that's how I cope with it. If you are constantly thinking about it it'll drag you down.
Every time I come on BYC it seems to be moaning about something, it drags us all down. I reacted with a Laughing emoji to add some cheer. :wee:highfive:🥳🤩 this thread used to be fun!
