ronott1 if you are looking for someone to do this experiment I am definitely game. I also have a 1502, plus the Brinsea Eco 40 - with shipped eggs I unwrap and let them rest for a few to 24 hours, dip in Oxine solution (I set eggs from varied sources, do not want to cross-contaminate just in case), allow to dry, set in the Brinsea without turning cradle for 5 days, then move to the Sportsman. If you want to conduct the experiment with different post-ship procedures I'm willing, also. My hatch rates on shipped eggs since using this method have been right around 33% if the eggs are freshly collected (within 4 days of shipping) and if they are properly packaged. I havem however, noticed that eggs I received from California seem to have fared worse than eggs received from shippes East of me, and I don't know whether that might interfere with the experiment.
My hatch rate is also impacted by living at 5400+ feet of elevation.
