The Health Care Law.

Attacking you? calm down, it never happened. You never even tried to respond to the points I raised... seems you are only looking for a flame war because your comments have zero substance.

Further arguments seem like a bad idea. I am not trying to be a zealous punk and take the high road but you can PM me if you want to take this further. I'm not mad at all and I'd be glad to discuss this privately.

Don't attack me try attacking the facts I stated. Your lack of responding to the facts is deafening.

I'm not looking at the law as politics I'm looking at what the law does.

Yes some people will make it political that doesn't mean I have to see it as such. Are you looking at the politics or the facts ?

And can we get off the car insurance issue it's not a good comparison to health care.

Actually it is a good and relevant comparison Dennis since it is the only other insurance mandated by the government. Why not just keep reporting those you don't want to hear from?

If you have drivers license issues like suspensions (no insurance) driving without a license, and of course unsafe driving habits, $40 a month insurance is hard, if not impossible, to find. Try $75 a month.

I'm not defending beer and cigarettes over paying for insurance, but an extra, random $6 is easier to come by than a steady $75 a month. Spending that $6 to forget your sorrows for a couple hours with a 6 pack is really just an act of hopelessness. It takes discipline to save that $6 and eventually have enough to pay the insurance company.
Does that mean paying for a pot card is an act to avoid suicide? I am not sure I agree with you on this one. It is ALL about priorities. And of course the evolving definition of poor.

I was not really joking... if anyone is unhappy buying auto insurance then the bus is the next option. Maybe I understood you as saying insurance was not necessary if you think it is then never mind. On a side your age brackett will be paying the most under OC compared to what you pay now if you have healthcare insuarance.

Oh, chickened, we know you were trying to joke. I had no problems with my own insurance, I had problems with the drunk who crashed into me's lack of insurance. I took light rail a number of times, actually a great service. Quit trying to beat around the bush, we all know what you were trying to say.

If you were in Oregon then you had uninsured motorist coverage as it is mandatory but as for fixing your car you needed comprehensive and or collision which is a choice you apparently chose not to get... now is that the guys fault that hit you?

I buy full coverage just for that reason and I drive newer cars worth fixing. And the ones not worth fixing have liability only.

Good point. It was my fault he had that 7th gin and tonic. Now, correct me if I am wrong, but aren't you an advocate for personal responsibility?

I don't think car insurance is at all comparable to the impending ACA for this reason alone. Driving is a privilege, not a right, and if I don't want to pay for car insurance I have options- taxi, bus, bike, horse... you get the idea. I can opt out by not driving. With the new health care law, there is no opt out. We will be taxed for simply existing. This is what bothers most folks, I think.

I'm not saying that the current health delivery system is perfect. It definitely could use some reform, but I think the new law is over reaching and other less intrusive fixes should have been tried first.

The car insurance most are required to buy is to protect others not you. Now some states may require you to buy insurance for uninsured people. But most don't. Somethings are covered in some states and others aren't.

When have I not wanted to hear from anyone ? I would love to have Cupman respond to the points I made but he has decided not to and that's his choice it's still somewhat of a free country. I just would like to see the thread get back to the topic and not closed.

Not entirely true. In VA, people who have had license issues must maintain insurance just to keep a valid - non suspended - license.

The people who will be burdened the most by the health care law are those who will have trouble paying the extra bill and are not capable (or willing) to put forth the extra effort to maintain the government provided assistance.

Nice beard growth, rebel, your last picture made me think you were in high school(I kid, not trying to be a jerk).

I disagree with your comments, however. I made a dumb mistake when I was 20 years old. I fell asleep at the wheel after a long trip and I took out a telephone pole. It had a transformer on it. I forget the exact cost because I was under my parents' insurance back then but it was well into the six-figures. My insurance paid for all of it and it did not cost my family anything besides the deductible. I was on my parents' plan at the time.) It is possible that Oregon and the Independent State of Dade NWGA are different... but here we are covered.
Yea, I look twelve without a beard. When I was a firemen I kept it cut for the seal on the face mask but I like to look older.

If they payed tipple digits then your parents had that much in coverage.
