You seem to be very judgmental. Please refrain from "people like you" comments. I don't think you know anyone here well enough to judge. Sorry you chose to defend a bad law.
No Dennis. It wasn't me who was being judgmental. End of discussion.

One thing that needs to be said. Stephanie I am sorry but you are incorrect about it becoming cheaper. Car insurance went up when the government forced people to have it. Houses got more expensive when the government tried to "help" the housing bubble. Whenever the government interferes with private sector it always gets more expensive and the services become worse.

I lied. One thing the government did make better was when they took over the management of rail roads.

And expecting my hubby to be unemployed, our BC/BS will be terminated on the day he gets the pink slip and who is going to pay for our daughter's braces which she just got tacked on two months ago?????? We can only get by so far for the family of three.

I know EWE! :( ((hugs))

Just hope the people in the 8 or 9 swing states have the wherewithall to correct this in November! If not, then we are all in the unfortunate position of getting what THEY deserve! :(

I feel that a senator or a representative needs to propose an amendment that does not allow bills or laws to be over 100 pages. Probably would be denied since some people really like their long bills and laws that have everything under the sun in them.

If they don't have to pay for it...no..they don't care that others DO have to pay for them..
Sad..but that's how we roll here under Obama..

You don't have to pay for them - just buy your own insurance. If you don't buy your own insurance you pay the tax and you have access for you and your family for healthcare. Sure, some of your taxes go to pay for those living under the poverty level, but it also goes to cover you. It's not a tax to pay for health care for people who can't afford to pay, its a tax to fund a system which all people who do not have private insurance can use. So you gte taxed, but you get to use the healthcare.

Does the tax people pay if they do not have insurance act like insurance when they go to the hospital or does the tax just go to whatever the government decides?

In Canada and the UK the goverment healthcare system tax/funding is not so high as to have caused a major hardship of its citizens.

If you don't have private insurance, you will be covered by the dov't healthcare, regardless of if you pay the tax or not. Those who are paying taxes (above poverty level), will pay a tax if they don't have the private insurance, but will then have healthcare coverage. It will be similar to private insurance, with emergencies, some preventive care and illness care covered. There may be a cap on some types of spending (like if your care gets into the millions for cancer treatment, for example, but most private insurance have similar caps. )
