And if the employees have to take furlough days because the state is out of money, like happens here in CA, seems like that will limit access to heath care too.

I trust bureaucracies much less than insurance companies, but I would really rather pay the doctor!
Just out of curiosity what is a furlough day?

I guess the thing I need to ask about is a comment from Matthew. You say how cost of auto insurance went up when the government required it... I haven't actually checked if that is true but even if it is do you think that is a bad thing? My first vehicle, a truck, got plowed into by an uninsured driver. I got money from my insurance company but they don't understand the sentimental value of a man's first vehicle that they own. My replacement vehicle was good, but not the same. I guess I wonder who is better off by not having to require auto insurance... seems those without hurt the rest of us. Nobody thinks they need insurance until they get in an accident.
Whether the guy had insurance or not your truck would still have gotten plowed into.

Was your policy for replacement value or sentimental value?

We have had mandatory insurance here for a long time. From the time I started driving until now I have not noticed any major increases in rates... You can still get a cut rate policy for almost nothing, I know lots of people who do so... Or if you are me and you have a good driving record, you can have a lot of insurance for a similar cost to some cut rate policies which young or bad drivers have... I do choose to carry uninsured motorist coverage to compensate for the selfish lawbreakers who plow into people and don't think they should have to pay for damages.

How many people on average are satisfied with the job done in paying out on claims on auto insurance? I rest my case.

My auto insurance is $20 a month, the lowest it has ever been. I have uninsured motorists coverage too, but nothing else except coverage legally required.

I have had no problems with any of my claims. I get my repairs and compensation in a timely manner. Of course I have yet to be at fault, have never had a ticket or an "at fault" accident, and I selct reputable companies and adequate coverage. If you pick crummy cheap insurance companies, be prepared to have sub-par service.

I pay about $40 per month, and have tons and tons of extra coverage and roadside service, I also have AAA, just cause I like the other perks. My current insurer is Gieco, but AAA is good, too.

If people understood what their coverage pays for there would be less complaints. When they find out sentimental value means nothing to an insurance company, or that towing is often a separate coverage, or that physical damage on their own vehicle must be purchased separately and doesn't include mechanical breakdown...i.e. many complaints are invalid from my experience. Just today I had someone tell me that although she has a $500 deductible, the BODY SHOP told her she shouldn't have to pay that deductible (because the deer caused the damage????)
