I'd bet the one in the last photo is a boy. Look at the build, tail and the wattles. lol Sure will surprise me if HE isn't. lol

Also, I see something in the pictures that you better fix pretty quickly. I see the points of the screws sticking out of the wood. My reason for saying this is I just had a hen get hurt really bad a week or so ago on a nail that was sticking out like that on a roost pole. Never had it happen before but I guess there is a first time for everything. Better to be safe then sorry.
Please don't think that I'm picking on you. I was really sick when I saw the slice in my Underwood pullets neck. Then the others picked at it and I never thought that she would make it. If it would have been a hatchery bird I would have offed her head but she is absolutely gorgeous and I put some salve on it, let her run by herself and she is healing up fine. Will be a few weeks before she can go in with the others but at least I know now to always check for these things.
Boy is what I was guessing too. Perhaps I was more hoping female but another roo is fine, it will give me more to choose from come January.
As for the screws, thanks for the heads up, I had not noticed them. While I use this tractor every day, it was my DH that built it. So I'm not offended at all. He was nice enough to add the nesting boxes so before I had tiny chicks in there, I was able to sort out my pullets and put the ones I wanted to match up to their egg in the tractor for a few days. I think those are why the screws are sticking out. I'm sure DH will fix it this weekend. Thanks again. I can only imagine how I would feel if one of these birds got hurt because of them.

I just wanted to really kick myself when I saw my pullet. When I saw your pics I could just imagine one of those getting an eye put out. This just happened to me so it is really fresh in my mind. lol Sometimes we just don't think of such a thing. It has to happen to the best ones.

They are really beautiful younguns. lol

It is now fixed and I found a few more. My DH cut the ends off so the screw is flush with the wood.
That really does make me feel better. I know they are yours but I really do thank you for taking care of that. Gee, I could just see something bad happening. lol This will stick with me for quite a while after seeing my girl like she was. I know I will be checking all mine from now on when I build something for them.

I went out and made sure all my screws were cut off as well, Jim, when you told me what happened to your little girl. Scared me.

I was out doing some clearing and let the girls out to run around. They still aren't sure about the goat but they do know she will steal all their food every chance she gets.

Pictures of Ron's Birds. I think 2 females and 2 roos with 1 I'm not sure on.

The first 4. I'm thinking 1 girl maybe 2 in this picture.

Chick #5, I'm thinking girl.

The one in the top right is the one I'm not sure on. I was thinking roo but its comb is shorter than the other 2 I think are roos.

This one is a girl I think and slightly smaller than the rest. We lovingly call it runty. It is a favorite of the children, mainly because they can tell it apart from the others.

Sorry this one is slightly blurry. This is the best I could get of the one I really would like guesses on the gender. Sometimes I think I'm seeing things but maybe this chick has a slightly different look to its face. Almost like it is upset or angry at the world.

All of these chicks are very dark and fun to watch. They are about 8 weeks old in these pictures.

Looks to me like 3 boys and 1 girl.

Sure did teach me a lesson. I'll be more careful from now on. Those girls look to be about the same size as mine. I like the long straight back on that black one. ha,ha,ha. How many girls did you end up with. Not counting the ones I lost, I have 10 girls. If they all make it, that will make me 16 SC girls and 3 RC. 9
SC boys to choose from and 2 RC.
