Hatched my first 18 Don Nelson chicks. All very healthy!
That's great Terry. I'm very happy for you. I'm wishing you the best on the sex ratio so you have plenty to work with next year.Hatched my first 18 Don Nelson chicks. All very healthy!
Are these SC or RC? Just curious.
Thanks, Jim
Sure did teach me a lesson. I'll be more careful from now on. Those girls look to be about the same size as mine. I like the long straight back on that black one. ha,ha,ha. How many girls did you end up with. Not counting the ones I lost, I have 10 girls. If they all make it, that will make me 16 SC girls and 3 RC. 9
SC boys to choose from and 2 RC.
Jim
Penny how old are them pullets in that picture? Neat picture with the goat and all!!!
That's great Penny, I'm sure wishing you the best for next year with the RC's. I know how much you want to get a good start with them.Jim, Yeah that black one sure has a nice long flat back, lol. From Gary I ended up with 14 girls and 10 boys. I gifted 3 pullets and 2 cockerels and traded a cockerel for a Rhodebar cockerel so I have 11 girls and 7 boys from Gary. I also have that little RC pullet that managed to hatch out of that last batch I got from Mr Heinz. She is a little younger then my SC but she is in the coop with them. So I have 12 pullets in one pen and 7 cockerels plus the Rhodebar cockerel in another pen. Tanker and his 4 girls are in a separate coop.
I have been very lucky so far and not lost any. The little runt that I had gifted to my neighbors didn't make it though.
