Rhode Island Whites are very rare. I think only the hatcheries have them. They never got off the ground in the old days. They where never related to Rhode Island Reds and like so many old Heritage breeds they where to difficult to breed and maintain thier traits. You can cross a white rock onto a White Wyandotte and get some ok ones. A freind of mind two years ago took one of my White Rock large fowl males and crossed them onto some hatchery White Wyandottes and produced on of the best Rhode Island Whites I ever say. My male had a very low top line like a Red and the Wyandottes did not have a very high top line either.

They are a Heritage breed as they where in the 1964 Standard of Perfection that I have. Thats good enough for me.
