The Honey Factory

I was going to take the queen cages out of the Italian hives yesterday but completely forgot about it. I remembered this morning and did take them out. Both cages had only worker bees in them as the queens had been released. The whole episode with each of the two hives was uneventful.

The temperature is up to 55°F today and bees are everywhere. Too bad the only things blooming are a couple of dandelions and the approximately 1" tall wild mustard.

My Saskatraz seem pretty mellow.

I changed the bottom board out for a summer screened mite counting board, on Saturday.
I think they enjoyed my company, a couple roosted on my arm but no one did anything foolish like biting me.

They were really busy this morning bringing in orange pollen. Whatever that is.
