The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Third pic on left i see nice white leg , i like that, you sell any of this ?
larry, im not allowed to promote other sites in byc bylaws, but 2 ladies that are very knowlageable about whites have done many articles on another site, one of them said bluish legs are normal in the breed..it is a sign of silver feather..it comes from breeders breeding back into blk orps for more type..the judges in england will take a bird right out into the light , pull a feather on whites to make sure feather tip is silver not cream or any redding or anything other than silver..you can view the articles there...thou white leg would be ideal, you will see chicks silver backed and bluish legs..

I have judged with British and South African judges and they will occasionally pull a feather and tape it to the coop card with a comment. If I did that here, I would be killed by the owner. It is a nice way to get a comment though.

you right about that..people be mad at ya for sure.i dont know why but i wouldnt find that insulting at all..i figure im there to try and learn something and better myself a little every year ,i would post it right in the barn, remind myself this is what i need to fix.. i guess i i keep going back to growing up on dressage horses..that was how its done and dont assume anything....and may the horse be with you.. this year with weasle attacks was a step back..along with racoon early on...they never take the ones you plan to give away either... im never going to have the whites, but love to read all the stuff about them..

Predators are the best judges around. They always get the best. They don't pull wing or tail feathers, it is body feather, but I have seen people go nuts when a judge pulled a feather that was ruining the outline of the bird. It was to their advantage and they still went crazy, so I wouldn't try it here.

This boy is about 20 months old. His comb has got a bit larger than when he was a year old. He is giving me the stink eye. He wouldn't pose for nothing. He hs been molting.

Here is his year old pic

Well looking at this pic maybe his comb is about the same after all
