The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

i just cant stand it, i want to reach right in there and pick that chicken right up..hes like the worlds perfect orpington..
Let this group out for the first time in a month since I moved them to a new pen. My Blue boy is now seven months and still getting his tail feathers in. He is larger than his father. His mother died in the heat earlier in the summer so I can't repeat him. I will use him for breeding this fall. He should be ready by the end of next month.

his proud carriage is following him right into adulthood..
This cockerel is sooo funny, I had to share. We call him "The Rock" because if he smells the girls around he brings his chest out and pumps his pecs (like the movie star "The Rock" and does his "I'm Too Sexy Walk". If I could figure out how to share a video of him, I would. He is a true Hollywood wanna be. When he's just with his brothers, he's just plain 'ole goofy. If I've had the girls out prior and he smells them...this is what happens. All 12 + 1 are thriving, eating me out of house and home, and are going into size 16 spiral leg bands next week (when they arrive). They are 15 weeks old!

I hope this little guy has found a home. He's adorable. I KNOW how hard it is when you have boys and worry about where they might end up. Best wishes.

Thank you! I just had the nicest conversation with a woman who lost her English boy very recently so she's driving for over 3 hours over the mountain pass to get Mr. Darcy. Her 6 year old daughter already has plans to show him soon and they love his name so are actually going to keep calling him Mr. Darcy! They have some other Orpingtons from BYCers whose names and good reputations I'm familiar with so he will have his own flock of girls as well. I am MUCH relieved.
I'm so excited to meet her on Friday. It sounds like he will be going to a wonderful, caring home where he will be living the life.

oh Julie...he is just amazing..love him....
Thanks Lynn but they pretty much all look like 2 dollar chickens right now. All the adult blacks are molting. I will be so glad to get through that stage cause I am ready to set up breed pens. I am hardly getting any eggs from the hens. Maybe one a day. I have a few pullets that have started laying.

Goodness Dee, she is gorgeous! How many more have you got? Love to see photos of the whole gang.

She's Marc's girl. I ended up with 9 cockerels out of 12 from Greenfire. I really wanted more than 3 pullets...so I added her. The whole gang is difficult to photograph since there's so many of them. But, I'll let them all out tonight and post a picture. They're getting so big. And, sadly, they've lost their baby green eyes.

In the meantime, I'll photograph them in their runs. BRB.
