The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Your property is gorgeous aveca! I love the colors of those leaves!

Your Orps are very pretty too!
Thank you Jeremy for the nice compliments......when the leaves peak, i will take some more for you..the chickens love to dig around in those sugar maple leaves..when i rake them into a pile, i have to get rid of them right away, otherwise the chickens spread them right back out all over....

I just want to say I am totally in love with the Bantam English Orps I got from Jordan Farms. They are the sweetest chickens I have. I can go into their pen and they will crowd around me and one will even fly up to my shoulder. Darlings. I do have a few too many roosters though and one black rooster has copper coming in. Does anyone know where that could come from? Is it normal for copper to show up in birds occasionally?

Finally got updated pictures of my Eng Orp girls. They are about 6 months in this picture. The Splash roo is 4.5 -5 months and in the super dorky stage.

Very nice!!

beautiful blue ladies Juststruttin!

Its a nice warm fall morning here but Very foggy..I went out and took a few pics of the birds out grazing and our hilltop area..One thing that I think is SO funny is all of the birds see me coming and run to greet me..The English orpington doesnt run....He gallops!!! I have to get that on film one of these days..too funny...

Mrs softie is starting to molt so she looks like a chocolate right now..we only keep a few birds in one large pen so that everyone has ample room...lots of grazing..

The baby feathers are starting to fall off now ..At this point he always looks like an unmade bed... But I bet he will be a beautiful bird by next year..sorry it is very foggy and some pics appear a blurry when a fog bank rolls over us..they think that they hear a hawk..

there is a rooster out in this habitat somewhere..lost in the fog bank, need a fog horn this morning.

Thick new england fog..

It got even thicker

Love That Nellie! some times we take for granted the beautiful God given things around us..

We have a tree out back that we call the angel seat.. it just grew in a strange pattern..It looks over all chicken habitats..rev brian bailey our neighbor and freind was from england , missioned all over the world..but LOVED it right here .. our property borders his missionary school and church....he was english citizen but made his home right behind my house and his church.....He was thrilled to see the old english orpington babies..he said it made him homesick...he would walk down and ask to go sit with those new english orps. escaping the constant phone calls up there.. I had a chair out there for him..I know he wrote a lot of religious books and he would be writing in a journal .. told him, you make yourself right at home...we planted some rare apples up there from england, a lamb abby permain apple tree and blue pairmain apple tree..he couldnt wait to have a basket of those rare old apples..you couldnt see them through the fog..there are also a first, northwest trial almond trees , so that should be interesting..
