The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Joy- thank you for the update on the 4 Minerva eggs- this is all so exciting! I can't wait! And the breadth on your chicks looks just amazing- Winston looks so proud of himself in that chic pic-
Kathy, yours look really good, too! They have such sweet expressions!

Jeremy, why is we both want splashes? I cannot figure out why I am so enamored of them - maybe because I only have blue and black at this point?

I want splashes too!!

I've 4 developing Tuffoldhen's eggs in the bator now...hatch date August 27th...9 days....I can't wait!

This is a pic of the first hatches from Charlie in Jan. This is a splash male that I probably should have kept. He was completely English typey at six months when I sold him off to a breeder in Fl. There were two of them but i didn't have room and I still have Three splash cockerels growing out now.
I am posting for the Chest size'

Beth, I didn't realize that we were both getting chicks from Joy around the same time, our babies will be brothers and sisters! AWW! (I guess everyone else's are too.

I really want a blue or splash cockerel, mainly so I can breed mostly blue or splash birds. I like the blacks, but I don't love them. Plus I have Aussies already and they add enough black to my layer flock (NOT that these babies will be living with the layers!) I just want some more color.

I'll admit I like the blue boys better, but I kind of like the genetic combination of having a splash cockerel more. So I'm torn, either way I'll be happy though.

Jeremy while I only have 4 in the bator, I may get a splash cockeral for you if you don't already have one growing out

I'll keep that in mind Cheryl, thanks!

I'm trying not to "count my chickens" before they hatch, but I'm just so excited about getting these babies from Joy!

Jeremy & Beth - they seem to be throwing mostly blue chicks, with a black or two and a rare splash. Beth is going to have about 4 older chicks by about 5 days. I miscalculated and stuck in 4 Minerva eggs too late. We're going on vacation first week of October and I can't have babies in the house.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed my Clementine splash is a cockerel.

Out of the last 4 Clementine chicks that hatched, I got 1 black, 1 splash, and 2 blues.

Here are a couple of pictures I took today of the Splash and the Black. (planning on getting all four out of the brooder tomorrow and having a nice photo shoot)
