The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Nice Lynn,
Irene I know what you mean about thick squishy babies.
I just took a pic of yesterdays hatch. My husband saw them in their tub brooder and ask me when they were going to start laying. I took a pic of them next to a big coffee mug to try and let you see how bit they are for day old chicks. The pullet eggs they hatched from were large eggs. I hope they turn out really large and have good lacing. This is a Black Cock over a splash girl. I will see how this combo goes.

They are squatting a little here as they are out of their enviroment

Here is one standing up looking in the cup. I think this is a cockerel for sure

The baby boy in this pic is my youngest Grandboy. These chicks hatched on his birthday. He will be here for Thanksgiving and it will be his first time to get to hold a baby chick. I will have a few more hatched by then and I always try and have them in a number three washtub with lights in the laundry room so they can go look and pick them up with help. It is going to be fun.

They are mighty big.. lol

Awe that is great Irene, Did you get the package i sent with instructions in it? Call me if you have any quesstions. I haven't got any more made cause my oldest son ended up in the Hospital with chest pains and he was there for five days and we were praying a lot and tending to grandkids and running here and there to help out. We got a good report in the end and so now I am a little behind getting ready for Thanksgiving. I have a large family. I have about 35 coming for Dinner. I don't have to cook everything though. it will be quite a contest between my brother and BIL to see who smokes the best turkey breast and between two others on the ham. I only have to cook the Cornbread dressing and Chicken n Dumplins, Sweet potatoes pies and collard greens. . I will start getting company in by the Tues before. We always have a great time. Hope everyone else does too,
Hope no one mistakes one of my big Orps for a Turkey

LOL Julie,

Glad to hear you got a good report.:) Yes I got your big envelope in the mail. I plan to sit down with it and a good hot cup of joe Saturday after we get back from deer hunting... Muzzle loader starts in the morning and I can't wait. :)

Here's a recent pic of my red hen and her new mate. He's a couple of months younger than she is. She is really a charmer. She is my favorite chicken by far. She is super friendly, despite that evil eye that she gives.

They're a lovely duo.

Are they Greenfire's Reds or from Marc's line?
