Irene I know what you mean about thick squishy babies.
I just took a pic of yesterdays hatch. My husband saw them in their tub brooder and ask me when they were going to start laying. I took a pic of them next to a big coffee mug to try and let you see how bit they are for day old chicks. The pullet eggs they hatched from were large eggs. I hope they turn out really large and have good lacing. This is a Black Cock over a splash girl. I will see how this combo goes.

They are squatting a little here as they are out of their enviroment

Here is one standing up looking in the cup. I think this is a cockerel for sure

Don't know if you can tell. but they are big

The hen is Greenfire and the roo is from Marc. Can't beat that.

She is at the point of lay. But, I think the roo is a little behind. They are so nice. Thanks.

He looks just about old enough to at least start showing interest in her... if she lays you any eggs I'd pop 'em in the bator just to be safe.

You can bet that I will. Here's a pic of her when she was a baby. I have noticed him chasing her around some.

Edit: I just noticed that this pic and my new Avatar are a very similar pose from this girl. It's a nice before and after. She still has some filling out to do. No eggs yet.

Here's a recent pic of my red hen and her new mate. He's a couple of months younger than she is. She is really a charmer. She is my favorite chicken by far. She is super friendly, despite that evil eye that she gives.


She is really beautiful. Love her color and type. Yeah for having these in the States
