I keep looking at all of these beautiful birds and all of my buildings and simply sigh. My wish list keeps growing.
Don, thanks for the information about combs..what about white toe nails?
White toe nail don't bother me. It's hard to get a black orp bantam with all black toe nails. Most of my blacks has a white nail or two and I have never had a problen in a show. When you have 40 or more black Old English in a class, then it's a problem. I can't tell you about black orp stds cause I don't have any yet. Julie would know.I keep looking at all of these beautiful birds and all of my buildings and simply sigh. My wish list keeps growing.

The old northeast poultry barn..have you ever seen plans for those ?..we are finnally getting around to building one . using an old set of plans tried and true..turned long side out of the wind...well ventalated , woodstove concrete floor..runs that go all the way around the orchard...its just a bad time of year to move ground around..so one more winter with the huts and coops..If I had the space and the money... I would set up a long building with individual stalls inside leading out to covered outdoor runs... I would have a plumber install automatic waters for each. The building would be wired for electric thus making it possible to run lights, fans etc. I would want a big laundry sink and counter top... shelves, cabinets and a place to quarantine sick birds. I don't want auto feeders because I want to have hands on with my birds so they have a better chance of survival if they get sick. plus I just like spending time with them![]()
Harry Halbach had a 2 story chicken house. At one time they had over 250 varietes of chickens, bantam and std, ducks, geese and turkeys. He had the bantam up in the top floor. I went up to see that.I know how you feel.... Brad and I are sitting here right now.. trying to figure out how to expand on our coop.. lol will have to turn it into a triplex
Uh oh.... just came up with the idea of a two story... can put an addition on top of the covered yard... lol now i need to win the lotto to pay for it..
