The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

This is wonderful that your investing so much into the GL. Good luck with it! I have found patience is key with breeding birds. I have much to learn. And about every time I open this thread I learn something new. Thank you to all the veteran breeders that bless us with their wisdom.

"Patience my little grasshopper"...NOT. I want to squeeze the eggs out of this one! She just won't comply! The last day or so, Ms. Drama Queen's starting her, "I want a C-section instead!" "Where's the Anesthesiologist?" Geez, would you please just lay the darn thing and get it over with!!!

This is my former runt, now biggest girl, Baby (a.k.a."Squirt" if you ask DragonLady). She's looking frazzled since I just let her out of the breeding pen. I'm breeding her to Mad Max.

I had a geneticist in France look at my babies. He looked at pictures of each from various specific angles. He was kind enough to tell me what each bird needed in order to meet my goals for next year. Some could benefit from crossing to Black and some crossing to Buff. Vickie has had me in total darkness over a baby she is saving for my outcross to Buff. She says she finally has the perfect coloring for my project. I am sooooo excited.

That is why I was crazy enough to keep three cockerels. One to keep pure GL, one to Buff, and one to Black. It will take some time to see if any of it works, but God willing, I have time.
I tried breeding a buff ckl over some single comb GL Wyandotte's that came from a hatchery in Texas. I got buff birds with alittle black in the neck. Could have been the hatchery type bird wasn't bred that good. You do have some pretty birds. I love that GL color, I'm trying a GL project with my orp bantams.

I am wondering exactly what this project is..looks like English buff cockerel over isa.. I wish he would have given explanation as to what he is doing.
