The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Thanks Boykin and Delisha for helping with my last egg. I did candle and listen. Nada. No internal pip and no internal noise. So...I'll give it another 2 days.

Did notice something though. With the previous 3 hatches all the chicks dried quickly and looked puffy. These little guys look like some of their down has dried stuck to their skin. I think I overshot the humidity. I battled with it the whole time. Or, I should say, I nagged about it the whole time. My husband is building me a hygrometer that will be more accurate.

A while back DragonLady had advised to have a toothbrush handy. Light bulb came on and I found one and, much to their dismay, I brushed their down. PUFF! I need to adjust my humidity I think.

I realize this thread is for pictures. Sorry. Further discussion I will PM someone.

In this picture, you think the girls are trying to get dirty. However, what they are doing is allowing the hen in the background to step on their backs so that she can jimmy the lock and let everyone out.

You just caught them, and they went back to looking like chickens taking a bath.



This one was sent outside so that you don't catch on to their Houdini attempts at getting out when you're not there.



Sorry, I'm distracted from what's really happening because these roos are just gorgeous. I so love roos. Their coloring is so vibrant! Love 'em.





Look at the chest on this one. Wow. He will have Dolly Parton daughters, for sure.
