The IMPORTED ENGLISH Orpington Thread

Thank-you Don, Do you have any idea what you get when a lemon cuckoo over a black? I currently have lemon cuckoo chicks and chocolate chicks .....I will be adding a few pure blacks later in the Spring. My goal is chocolate cuckoo......eventually, just trying to figure out if I can get there with the colors that I have. I've tried the chicken calculator that everyone is talking about, but I'm so new that it might as well be written in Latin.

I was wondering... Out of curiosity... If anyone has any spare chocolate bantam cockerels or roos no older than 1yr old with leg sprigs they would want to sell. The more I look at my chocolates, the more I can see I am going to have an issue with them. I mean, they are not bantams. Mine are ranging between 6-7lbs. I want TRUE bantams. And I'd like 2 of them. A pullet/hen would be nice, too since my 5 straight run were all cockerels and I still don't have a girl.

On the topic of mauves, I wish my blues and blacks would lay already. I have 3 chocolates in with 2 black and 2 blues - LFs. They have to be getting close to the right age.

Thank you for all the pictures of the eggs. I guess I am just going to have to catch my mystery dark egg layer in the process of laying it, as this is the only egg I can't put a hen to.

About the fermenting feed I will have to find that thread someone was talking about. I accidentally fermented 5 gallons of feed I mixed this past fall and not only did the chickies love it(scarfed it till it was gone in minutes) but they gained a ton of weight back to. I gave it to them hoping it would be fine and haven't done it again just cause I wasn't sure if it was ok for them and honestly I don't remember how I did it!

Hope Roger and Julie dont mind a shout out here , I think Roger has some of the best Splash anywhere in the world..Julie did also..I saw some top splash in australian thread , they won some top prizes ,they were fantastic birds and lot of fun to look over..But I thought, they have nothing on rogers, and Rogers had better color...no leakage ect..I think he could have held his own in that show..

I borrowed this wonderful australian splash orp to show him off..he was a winner for thier orp club.
I think hes a splash..Maybe an expert can correct me if he is another variety. beautiful orp type thou.

This is a pic Roger sent me a while ago
